Mary,

I wanted to thank you for all your help regarding my practice. Since you opened in October, I have lost 26 lbs. But that's just the start of all the amazing benefits I've received from hot yoga.

1. I used to suffer from severe lower back pain - which often kept me out of work and in bed. After 2 weeks doing hot yoga, I had a major back spasm - it lasted 2 days - and I haven't had another one since! We're going on 3 months and counting without any lower back pain whatsoever!!

2. I used to get really bad acne breakouts - haven't seen a hint of acne 3 months!

3. Used to suffer with anxiety - all my life - and for the past 2 years starting having panic attacks. Since October, I've had 1 panic attack and don't have the constant anxiety I used to have.

4. Lastly, those 26 lbs that melted off - well, funny thing is - I haven't dieted. In fact, I threw out my gym membership and all I do now is Hot Yoga. I've had a weight problem all my life and decided to stop listening to all the diet gurus and start listening to my body. I've never been so in touch with my body - I now understand exactly what my body needs and when it needs it.

I'm turning 30 in February and have been active all my life i.e., competitive show-jumping for 10 yrs, figure skating for 5 years, and work-outs at least 5 days a week. After a few months of yoga - I have never seen my body firmer. I am the strongest and most flexible I've ever been in my entire life and I know it'll just get better as I continue with yoga.

There's so much I've learned in the past, short 3+ months that I've been doing Hot Yoga- it's simply amazing. And everyone around me is noticing the drastic improvements as well.

But what's most important is that you've created this fantastic environment for people to learn and live yoga. I'm convinced that I'll be doing Hot Yoga for the rest of my life and I'm also convinced that if it wasn't for you - I probably wouldn't have become a yoga convert.

You are an incredibly dynamic and giving individual. Your passion for helping people is apparent upon first meeting you and only deepens as your friendships grow. Moreover, you teach from a wonderful place of love and sincerity which inspires us all.

Keep up the great work and I promise to come by for a practice whenever I'm out on Long Island.

Dear Mary,

My menstrual cycle did not come for over 2 1/2 years. I went to three different ob/gyn doctors/specialists and they all told me I was too thin and due to working out all the time I was not menstruating. I was not satisfied with that answer, so my ob/gyn doctor induced my period with a prescription drug and I got my period for 3 days and it went away and did not come back until they gave me the prescription drug again after 6 months, once again got it for a couple days and it went away.

I started researching natural ways to induce my period and a friend told me about hot yoga and how it balances your body out and gets everything in your body flowing properly. I went to a Hot Yoga class and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I continued going after about 3 weeks my menstrual cycle started. I continued hot yoga and the following month and from thereafter my menstrual cycle was regular. Even though the doctors don't believe it was due to hot yoga I definitely do. Thank you!!!!
